How to Check Your PF Balance Status
Because you’re a member of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), it isn’t necessary to wait until the end of the year to receive your provident fund (PF) statement. Instead, you can learn your PF balance now. Use these guidelines to check your PF balance status.
Check the EPFO Portal
The EPFO runs a different portal whereby employees can access their PF passbooks instead of using the unified portal they were previously accessing. However, employees can still access the unified portal for transactions including transfers. Accounts must be tagged with your Universal Account Number (UAN) to view your PF passbook and download it from the site. Your employer can activate the number for you to ensure you can access your passbook. In doing so, you’ll be able to log in and check PF status online.
Use the EPFO Mobile App
If you have a smartphone and are a UAN member, then you can download the EPFO mobile app and use the “check my PF balance” option. You can download the app from the EPFO website, as well as by searching for “m-sewa” in the Google Play store. Once the app is installed, all you need to do is click on “Member,” and then view your passbook balance. From there, you’ll enter your registered UAN and mobile phone number. The data must match what’s stored to see your employee PF account balance.
SMS Will Reveal Your PF Balance
An SMS is a text message you can send using your mobile phone. Before sending an SMS, your UAN must integrate with your PAN, AADHAR or bank account details. Your PAN is your permanent account number. The AADHAR is the 12-digit number assigned to residents of India. Otherwise, you will not be eligible to access your PF balance through SMS. You’ll be using the mobile number 7738299899 to send the following message — EPFOHO UAN ENG — where the last three characters, ENG means you want the SMS to be received in English. You can receive messages in Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. Sending the SMS allows you to check your PF account.
Missed Call Method
For those who prefer not to use an online PF status enquiry, it’s possible to use the missed call method. You must be registered with the UAN portal before attempting this method. Otherwise, it will not work. Use your registered mobile phone to send a missed call to 011-22901406. Your mobile phone will retrieve your PF balance details. Be sure your PAN, AADHAAR number and bank account details are integrated with your UAN number before proceeding.
Utilizing the Umang App
It’s possible for you to view your PF balances with your mobile phone using the Umang app, which was launched by the federal government in 2017. The app provides access to a variety of government services, including employees who need to view their PF balances. It’s possible for you to check your PF passbook, start a claim and use the app to track a claim. All you need to do is begin with a one-time registration with your mobile phone number. Then you’ll be able to do a PF status check online using your phone.
